For many years now, I have never bought food for the New Year's table in large hypermarkets such as "Auchan", "Lenta", "Metro", etc. And in this article I will explain why I do this.
To be honest, my husband and I used to go to these stores and buy everything there according to the list that we had drawn up in advance. But for 10 years we have not done this.
And all because on New Year's Eve there are so many people in "Auchan" or "Lenta" that they simply cannot be crowded. As a result, you can get stuck in the store for several hours. We value our time, so we refused to visit such large stores in the second half of December.
In addition, some kind of horror begins to happen in the store: due to the huge number of customers some products are not enough by the end of the day, once my husband and I witnessed a fight between two women for tangerines. They did not understand that tangerines can be bought the next day, because the delivery is daily. Or in any other store.
Also, people begin to look and touch everything on the shelves, in the boxes, after that you can often see how something is lying on the floor, how the packaging has torn and the contents have spilled / scattered from it. Personally, it is unpleasant for me to be in the store when everything is lying around and scattered around.
In general, we have given up visiting large hypermarkets. We buy all products in the most ordinary supermarket near the house. Usually it is "Pyaterochka", "Magnet" or "Gulliver". There is absolutely everything that we need for the festive table. This is not an advertisement, but purely my opinion.
The only thing we buy separately is the New Year's cake. Usually we take it in a bakery or pastry shop - there are the most delicious cakes. Well, if I'm not lazy, then I myself bake a honey cake for the New Year.
Many will say that before the New Year there are often discounts at Auchan, Lenta and Metro, so it is more profitable to buy food there. But believe me, on the eve of the holiday there are discounts in absolutely all shops - both in Pyaterochka and in the most ordinary Magnet near the house. Therefore, I would argue about discounts.
Besides, there are usually as many people there as on a normal day, and you don't have to go shopping for hours and stand in a huge line.
