Hello friends! Today on my program is moussaka, a wonderful Greek casserole. I do not pretend to be the authenticity of Greek moussaka, but I do it as my family likes, although the main components are the same.

GREEK MUSAKA WITH EGGPLANTS AND BESHAMEL SAUCE
- Cut the eggplants into thin slices, salt and leave for a while.
- Then they will need to be rinsed with water.
- Cut the zucchini in the same way.
- Add the onion, carrot, celery stalk, clove of garlic to a blender and chop.
- Heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet and fry the chopped vegetables.
- When the excess liquid has evaporated add minced meat and fry until crisp.
- Moussaka can be cooked with lamb or beef.
- Add (optionally 50 ml of red wine), 100 ml of broth or water.
- Here are chopped tomatoes, 1 tbsp. a spoonful of tomato paste and your favorite spices.
- Season with salt, pepper and simmer over medium heat.
- Rinse the eggplants with cold water and place on a sieve.
- They can be fried in olive oil or baked in the oven.
- Put the eggplants and zucchini on a baking sheet and preheat the oven to 200 ยฐ C degrees.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven for 15 minutes.
- I will add potatoesalthough this is also optional.
- Blanch thinly sliced โโpotatoes in boiling salted water for 3 minutes.
Bechamel sauce
- Fry the flour in butter.
- Introduce milk, stirring constantly.
- When half of the milk is well mixed with flour, add the rest. Keep the heat between medium and minimum.
- Salt the sauce, add a little black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg.
- Remove the baked eggplants from the oven and lower the temperature to 180-190 ยฐ C degrees.
ASSEMBLING MUSAKI
- Lubricate the mold with oil. The bottom layer is potatoes. Top with eggplants.
- Pour half of the sauce over the eggplant. Then zucchini. Minced meat and leftover sauce.
- Sprinkle the moussaka on top with grated cheese.
- I add a spoonful of bread crumbs to the cheese.
- Send the mold to the oven for 30-35 minutes.
- Look how beautiful it is and of course delicious! ๐
