In winter, after a walk, you want something hot and satisfying. Such that heat from the stomach spreads throughout the body (even to the tips of the fingers) and also makes me sleepy.
Well, yes, well, yes, wrong, a person should get up from the table with a slight feeling of hunger, and in general, we eat to live, and not live to eat.
But, my dears, in all honesty, admit: dieting and completely healthy nutrition in our climate in winter is some kind of self-torture! It may be useful for the soul, and for sure, for the body (temper!), But I just want to eat something (forgive me for the harsh word) early.
It is to eat, and not to eat, or, even more so, to eat.
Therefore, we are preparing food. Bigger, richer, sharper. I have already written about the hodgepodge (I love a perverted hodgepodge, so that from one smell a tear and drool would knock out). Even last year. And in general, many authors write about Russian and familiar dishes.
So let's get some beef chili today? So what, that is not ours, but nourishing, tasty, hot so that it burns. The very thing! After skiing, but in the woods ...
We take:
- A piece of beef (about a kilogram)
- Onion (I advocate not spicy onions in this dish, so white is good, well, from those that are called "silvery"
- A few cloves of garlic
- 2- 3 teaspoons of chipotle powder. In our reality, it will most likely have to be replaced - that is, a spoonful of hot pepper (red) with a couple of tablespoons of smoked paprika.
- A couple of teaspoons of oregano
- A couple of teaspoons of cumin
- 180-200 grams of tomato paste
- 100-150 grams of chopped canned hot peppers (if bought whole, then take out the partitions and seeds and cut)
- Jar of tomatoes in their own juice
- A liter of broth (I have chicken, as it is always frozen)
- A little vegetable oil, a little flour, and salt to taste
How we cook:
Cut the beef into cubes, mix with salt in a large bowl and send it to a well-heated frying pan or cauldron - fry until crusty. It is better to throw the beef in portions there - otherwise it will cook, infection.
We take out the fried beef and remove for the time being.
When the meat is finished, we send the onion, cut into small cubes, to the same cauldron or frying pan and fry until transparent with a slight ruddy. Then - crush the garlic there, add oregano and caraway seeds. Fry for another minute, fill with tomato paste.
After about five minutes, add chipotle powder or a mixture of red pepper and smoked paprika, add chopped chili, beef, chopped tomatoes in their own juice, pour in the broth and leave to stew until you like the meat to the degree softness.
If by this time the sauce is too liquid, you can thicken it with flour.
You can serve it with sour cream, cheese and even fried onion rings on top and, of course, with crispy fresh bread.
