I have written several times about the behavior at the guests' table - from the position of a person who prepares all the dishes for this table. However, we must admit that sometimes the hosts of the feast behave in such a way that the guests feel awkward and even run away.
So today - about the behavior that the "inviting party" should not allow themselves (in my opinion).
You can't be cute!
I mean, in no case should you treat guests by force. For some reason, we believe that the guest should chew, chew, chew and chew at the table. A guest chewing everything and without interruption is the best praise for the organizer of the feast and the cook.
At the same time, the owners consider it their duty to feed the unfortunate guest with everything that is on the table (and drink too), regardless of his taste preferences and even health.
Blackmail is used - well, do you really not respect me, well, try at least a piece (well, or drink at least a sip).
In the course is "begging" - well, really you do not try, we tried so hard.
In the course are persuasion in other variations. I once heard:
- Well, come on, liver allergy! You will not have any allergies to our liver, everything is from the village, its own, environmentally friendly!
The hosts of the feast are so decisive that they give ultimatums (humorous, as I hope):
-Do not try, we will be enemies for life!
I don't know about you, but this behavior annoys me. And yes, this is in the tradition of the Russian feast - to regale guests, but not in the same ways.
Once I said - you can't do that, well, have mercy!
A discussion ensued whether the owner has the right to stuff the guests like that or is it still bad manners.
Supporters of the fact that it is possible and even necessary to stuff guests by any means, and a guest who did not try everything that was inserted and did not praise it all, cited an excerpt from Bulgakov's "Heart of a Dog".
Remember, there Philip Filipych regaled Dr. Bormental with some kind of snack and stated:
- If you say that this is bad, then I am your enemy for life!
The defenders were convinced that since Professor Preobrazhensky had such behavior "out of hand", it means that it is quite normal. This means that it is inherent in the traditions, and there is nothing to be indignant about.
However, for example, in this scene I always saw the awkwardness of a doctor who does not know how to refuse a professor.
As for me, this is how unceremonious people behave. Well, poorly educated.
And how do you think - do you think such a violent meal is permissible?
