There are many options for this dish. But according to the recollections of my mother and my own, on holidays we sometimes had such a dish. And it was called - pork in French.

French pork with potatoes and cheese: a Soviet recipe

Ingredients:

1 kg of pork pulp
150-200 gr. cheese
1 kg of potatoes
2-3 pcs. onions
250 ml mayonnaise
salt
ground black pepper
tomatoes and herbs optional

How to cook:

1. Cut the pork into 1 cm thick layers across the grain. You can fight back, but this is not necessary.

2. Mix half the mayonnaise with ground pepper and salt to taste. Also at this stage it will not be superfluous to add seasoning for meat or something from spice for pork.

Grease pieces of meat with this mixture and put in the refrigerator to marinate. Ideally from 12 hours.

3. Cut the onions into half rings or rings and place in a greased baking dish.

Spread the pickled pork on top of the onion pillow.

4. On a coarse grater, grate raw peeled potatoes, lightly squeeze its juice, mix with a few tablespoons of mayonnaise, pepper and salt.

Place the potato coat on the meat in an even layer.

5. If there are tomatoes, they will decorate the dish and give it some pleasant sourness. But in their absence, nothing terrible will happen. Most often, we had this dish just without tomatoes.

6. Put the mold in an oven preheated to 200 degrees and forget for about 1 hour.

7. Then remove the mold, sprinkle with cheese and return to the oven.

We overlooked a bit this time, so our top is slightly burnt.

Important! Bake with cheese for no longer than 10 minutes!

8. And we serve! We pick it up with a spatula from the edge to the very bottom, find our pork and take out a piece on a plate right with it and a potato coat.

Pickled cucumbers or tomatoes are great additions.
