Dear friends, please tell me what food is for you? Recently, the following opinion was expressed in the comments:
And, as for me, it is not very true. Or even in general - it is fundamentally wrong. Because health, of course, cannot be taken into the background, however, the pleasure from food is also far from secondary.
I remember the postulate:
- A person eats to live, but does not live to eat!
And the way they used to say about nutritional therapy:
- It doesn't have to be tasty, it's a diet!
But, if you think about it, all this did not lead to anything good. You can not force a person to choke on wholesome and healthy, but tasteless food. This leads to breakdowns - when the unfortunate person whose oatmeal on water without salt and sugar is already splashing somewhere under the skull - demolishes the bar and he, spitting on his ulcer or something else, pounces on such a harmful, forbidden, but delicious fried meat.
Food is not just food. It is the pleasure of aroma, taste, color, type of product. And when a person experiences pleasant emotions, he becomes psychologically healthier. And to refuse this, believing that let the food be healthy and everything is stupid.
There is even an eating disorder - orthorexia nervosa, when proper nutrition is elevated to a cult, and at the same time they begin to limit themselves in the choice of food and the methods of preparing / eating it. Among other things, orthorexia is also characterized by attempts to impose its nutritional model as the only correct to others (I think this is how the brain defends itself, trying to convince itself that its actions are normal).
No, no, I'm not saying that food should be delicious. I am talking about the fact that food should be tasty, healthy, enjoyable and promote health at the same time. Well, and overeating, for example, is also not necessary. For some reason, for some reason, many people still think that the pleasure of eating is to fill the stomach without measure. Actually, no. You can get pleasure without suffering from gluttony.
But you can suffer, overcoming difficulties in another place, but not at the table. And in general, in our life there are so many overcomes to push food into ourselves through force, calming with the thought that it may not be tasty, but healthy.
And what about you, in the first place is the benefit? Or taste? Or are you trying to maintain a balance?
