I bought a "January" watermelon, but did not even dare to try: I tell you why (I just threw away the money, sorry)

January. Tired of tangerines. Apples are tasteless. You can’t choose lychee anymore (remains). And then watermelons were brought to Magnit. In the middle of January! And not only in "Magnet", by the way. I've seen them in many grocery stores. But in Magnit, watermelons turned out to be cheaper than anywhere else. And we decided... Chose one))

149.99 rubles per kilogram! It's not 15-20, of course, like in summer. But it's winter! And they brought them all the way from Brazil! For a berry weighing 2700 we paid almost 405 rubles. Watermelon caught sonorous, without visible defects.

The expiration date is 10 days. I was sure that we would eat it right away. But they put it on the balcony and remembered it only after 5 days. It's good that there were no frosts))

I washed the watermelon well and soaked it in water for several hours. I read somewhere that this way you can "remove" at least a little nitrate from fruits and vegetables. I even tested it on a radish - then it worked)) For 5 days, the watermelon managed to spoil a little. Dark dots appeared on one side (it will be visible in the photo below).

In general, we cut. Scroll:

Beautiful, red, sugar, black bones. The son said: "Like a real one." And there is a watermelon flavor. Not as bright as in summer, of course, but there is! I immediately wanted to try it. Look what an appetizing snack!

Weird. For some reason, the word "skibochka" is underlined in red for me. Isn't there such a word? That's what we call - "skibka", "skibochka"... And you?

We've already set out the bowls... But I decided to check something else)) I don’t even know why I suddenly remembered that we have a device for measuring nitrates. But I remembered him! And for good reason, as it turned out.

I will not give any links either here or in the comments and tell you what device I have and where to order it. Don't ask! This is not about my device, but about what is in the composition of the watermelon, which we almost ate!

In general, I "pierced" the watermelon from different sides - both outside, and near the tail, and immediately under the skin, and about seeds, and in the very center, where the watermelon is usually the sweetest and most delicious (and where the nitrate content is usually minimum). I expected, of course, that not everything is very "clean". But to THAT... And this despite the fact that I also held a watermelon in the water a little. Scroll... Without words...:

The content of nitrates is EXCESSIVE! Lost appetite :(

Husband still pinched off a piece and tried it. The watermelon was sweet and delicious. He didn't taste anything strange. Regular watermelon. And after all someone buys and eats!

I don't want to comment on anything. I don't even know what to comment here... Write what do you think about it?

Yes, we threw away the watermelon! And, just in case, we decided to check the nitrate content in the tomatoes we bought for the salad. We ended up with two packages of tomatoes - one from Magnit, the other from Lenta.

We measure:

It's okay here)) Hooray! "January" tomatoes can be eaten. Not like "January" watermelons!

I discovered a new, unusually tasty dish of "Shashlik" zucchini: you can eat it right away, or you can roll it up for the winter
