What do we eat on the Crimean peninsula? Chebureks? Ice cream? Corn? Yeah. We also go to the market and cook ourselves: fish, meat, vegetables, etc.
Since the beginning of the season opening, we have been living in Evpatoria. This year, only July, last year - and August was taken in one.
We rarely go to canteens and cafes and only if there is no time to cook something or I am sick.
Therefore, we rent, though modest housing, but always with a kitchen, then I cook a full meal here too. Do not think that people are on vacation, and then why cook. Perhaps a canteen or cafe for a vacationer for 7-10 days is an excellent meal option.
But there will not be enough money for another month of going to public catering. Moreover, we are not really "vacationers" here. My son has a sanatorium, but I have a laptop and work at least 3-4 hours daily.
Therefore, we have a direct road to the local analogs of our magnets and fives - to the supermarkets "PUD" and "Fresh", as well as to the collective farm market.
What we buy: chicken, minced pork, fruits, vegetables, pasta, cereals, fish, etc.
What we eat: soups, naval pasta with minced meat and onions, fried or boiled potatoes with salted horse mackerel or smoked squid, salads with pink tomatoes, their own pasties with cheese or vegetables and sometimes with minced meat, chicken / fish fried or stewed, zucchini, eggplant.
In short, everything that is at home. Here, almost everything is local and therefore tastier.
Yesterday morning we went to the market, bought a fresh mullet, we cleaned it there for free.
How to cook mullet? This fish is specific, so it requires a special approach.
Black Sea mullet with onions in a pan
How to cook:
1. Gut the mullet, cut off the fins, head and tail - they will go to the ear. Leave the small one whole, but the large one is better cut into pieces.
2. Squeeze the juice from 1/3 of the lemon onto the fish, add a little grated lemon zest, ground black pepper and paprika. Salt.
3. Further, the mullet can be breaded in flour and fried on both sides, cut the onion into large half rings separately.
Or add a little mayonnaise to the fish, stir and simmer on an onion pillow in a cast-iron pan.
Both are delicious. Such a mullet with a salad of Crimean tomatoes with Yalta onions, boiled potatoes or rice is good.
Enjoy your meal!
