How to cook pasta correctly
Main proportion: 100 g of pasta per 1 liter of water.
Accordingly, a standard pack of 0.5 kg for 5 liters of water.
This amount of water allows the pasta to be used as a side dish without additional rinsing.
- I use durum wheat pasta.
- They keep their shape better and do not turn into porridge, moreover, they are more delicious.
- I put 5 liters of water to boil a pack of pasta.
- Bring the water to a boil.
- You can salt it whenever you want.
- If you add salt to boiling water, be very careful.
- I salt at the rate of 5 g of salt per 1 liter, this is a teaspoon without top.
- When the water boils, immerse the pasta in it.
- Stir them immediately.
- Do not reduce the heating until the second boiling of water.
- After the water has re-boiled, the heat can be reduced.
- The pasta maker usually writes the cooking time.
- Stir gently 2-3 times during cooking.
To what stage should you cook?
- If you are making a pasta with sauce or salad, then cook until al dente, this is a little undercooked pasta.
- If the package says 12 minutes, then after 10 minutes you have to try.
- If you cook them for a side dish, then according to the time on the package.
Rinse with cold water or not?
- For a side dish - no need.
- For salad, it is better to rinse, then the softening process stops.
- You can drain pasta without a colanderstraight out of the pan. This is our family life hack.
