Is it possible to make Snickers, Picnic, Twix and Kitkat exclusively from herbal ingredients? Had to try to find out.
I saw a shop with unusual desserts at the Moscow gastronomic market. The place is called RAW TO GO, which means that it sells raw food “to go”. It turned out that the store sells products not only for raw foodists, but also for vegans. I was very interested in their desserts.
- What kind of bars do you have? - I asked.
- These are copies of popular chocolate bars, only made exclusively from plant ingredients. - explained the saleswoman.
The window displays completely different bars, and it is quite difficult to recognize popular analogues in them. I could only guess Picnic and Twix. The similarities are small, but these are not originals, but vegan versions.
True, the prices bite, these bars are very different from the real ones. But I could not resist and decided to take 4 different chocolates for testing. I asked them to pack it with them, to eat so many calories at a time - it's too much. I wonder what their calorie content is?
I did not find any information on the composition and calorie content in the window. I had to check on the website. To my surprise, Snickers and Twix are almost 2 times lower in calories than the originals. But Kitkat and Picnic are almost indistinguishable from real bars in terms of calorie content. I wonder what they taste like.
The bars were delicious. True, the similarities with the originals, in my opinion, are distant. For example, Snickers without nougat, and Twix without shortbread in the base.
Most of the similarities I noticed in Kitkat and Picnic. But in the latter, except for nuts, there are no more fillers, which is a pity. Instead of waffles, they used something like crispbread. It's time to summarize.
I liked the bars themselves. They have a pleasant taste and excellent composition. Prices are, of course, high, but this is still not a mass product. But I didn't like the fact that manufacturers are trying to copy popular bars.
I believe that if you do something good, you shouldn't try to associate the product with something famous. It is clear that this is done so that buyers understand what they are dealing with. But this way your product will always be associated with someone else's brand, and it is better to develop your own.
