Recently friends from the United States sent a video recipe that became very popular in America. He scored over 1 million views in just a week. I looked, and he hooked me too.
The video shows how to make pies similar to McDonald's pies from bread and apples. I don't really like deep-fried food, but really wanted to check the recipe.
Step-by-step recipe on how to make bread pies
Ingredients for 5 pies:
- Bread 5 slices
- One large apple
- Starch 1 teaspoon
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Butter 25 g
The cooking process is extremely simple. First, melt the sugar in a frying pan until it becomes caramel.
I add butter, stir. I add apples, peeled and cut into small pieces. I fry them a little in caramel, add starch, mix, and the filling for the pies is ready.
I would add a little ground cinnamon here, so the apples will be even tastier.
Now I'm going to do the pie dough. To do this, I roll out the bread for the toaster with a rolling pin into a thin layer.
I spread the apple filling, roll it up and press the edges with a fork.
Breading
- Egg 1 pc
- Water 1 tablespoon
- Breadcrumbs
In a separate container, I mix the egg with water with a fork. I dip each pie in an egg then in a container with bread crumbs. You can use bread crumbs.
I fry each pie in turn in heated vegetable oil until crusty. then I spread it on a napkin to drain the excess fat. The pies are ready, let's show you what happened, and tell you what I didn't like about them.
The pies look more or less edible. Inside there is a delicious filling of apples, but on the outside there is absolutely tasteless bread. Perhaps this is because of the bread. The original recipe uses white bread, while mine uses whole grain flour.
As a result, I sent all the pies to the trash can. Not only is it not tasty, it is also not healthy. If interested, you can check it yourself, just use white bread, it might taste better with it.
