I never thought that there are cakes with a price of 100 rubles. I ended up on the Moscow wholesale market, showing what I saw.
I recently found myself in the wholesale food market. This is probably the largest market in Moscow. Here you can buy anything you want, from buckwheat to “forbidden”. But as a pastry chef, I am first of all interested to see what sweets are sold here.
The market is located in the south-west of Moscow outside the Moscow Ring Road. On the way, I met an incredible cake shop to order. The sign is awesome.
The location of this sweet shop is especially pleasing. Exactly between similarity collapse and car service. Well, while I was repairing the car, I ordered a cake at the same time.
It's a pity, I drove at 9 am, and the shop was closed. It would be interesting to see what they offer. But back to the wholesale market, let's see what cakes can be found there.
To be honest, I expected more assortment from the market. Perhaps due to the pandemic, some points were closed. I ended up finding only one cake shop. But it also makes it clear the order of wholesale prices.
First of all, I paid attention to the Bird's milk cake. I was surprised by its low price. Of course, I assumed that it was cheap here, but not that much. For 550 grams of cake they ask for 162 rubles, or 294 rubles per kilogram. And this is the price they still earn.
The same cake, but at retail, can be bought for 350-400 rubles, depending on the store. Unfortunately, a cake with such a price cannot have a normal composition.
Secondly, I paid attention to the cheapest cake. If you think that Bird's milk for 162 rubles is as cheap as possible, then there is a cake even cheaper.
This is a Fairy Tale cake. A fairy tale for only 100 rubles. Hmm, such prices can only be in a fairy tale. In terms of a kilogram, the price is 250 rubles. I didn't even look at the composition of such a cake.
However, it turned out that this confectionery shop still has something to surprise. When I looked at the display case, I noticed there a Raspberry cake with cream for 110 rubles and a weight of 640 grams. This means that a kilogram costs 171 rubles.
At such a price, natural cream can only smell here, and that is due to the flavorings.
I no longer want to go into the details of these cakes. It is a pity that someone raises a hand to make and sell such desserts. But the prices that you see in my photos are wholesale. In stores, they will wind up another 100-200%, and whoever is more expensive will get all 300%.
