I bought some low-calorie cakes in the store and was very surprised when I read the information on the back of the package.
In the store I saw a dessert with an inscription that caught my attention - “0 calories”. I could not resist and bought several boxes for testing. It turned out that these desserts do contain calories, and “0 calories” is the name of the brand.
Yes, this is a brilliant move. If you want to attract the attention of those who watch their weight, using the phrase “0 calories” as a brand name is a very competent and thoughtful move.
It is clear that a dessert cannot be without calories at all, as the huge inscription on the package says: "2 times less calories" - and below there is a small postscript "compared to classic desserts." Let's see what the packaging looks like.
Outwardly, the dessert box looks very attractive. I took Medovik and Prague for myself. Both boxes have a picture of the dessert that should be inside. Looks beautiful.
Wondering what these desserts taste like? But before we try it, let's open the package and see how the dessert looks. On the packaging, the cake is made in several layers of biscuits, but in practice it is clear that this is not the case.
Medovik has no cakes at all, only crumbs from the bottom and top, and a soufflé in the middle. Prague also doesn't look like a picture, inside there is a chocolate soufflé and small pieces of biscuit. Okay, I'll try.
The taste of the desserts, as I expected, did not surprise me at all. Desserts, although they do not contain sugar, are still very sweet, due to which the taste of chocolate and honey is lost. Both desserts are completely different in taste and texture to classic cakes. Let's see how much such desserts cost.
The prices for desserts of this brand are 103-104 rubles per box. Moreover, all desserts are of different weights. But on average 1400 rubles per 1 kilogram. In my opinion, quite a high price for such a dessert. I wonder what kind of ingredients such expensive cakes have.
The composition for a low-calorie dessert is not bad. There really is no sugar, as indicated on the package. Erythritol, stevia and sucralose are used as sweeteners.
But the most interesting inscription awaits below: "May be laxative if consumed in excess." Wondering how much you need to eat for this effect to work? I tried only a couple of boxes and it looks like I got carried over, or rather did not.
As for calories, in Prague there are 169 per 100 grams, and in Medovik - 203. Desserts are really low in calories. It's time to summarize.
Outcome
The desserts of the “0 calories” brand did not impress me at all. They have beautiful packaging and a good name. They really have no sugar and low energy value, but they have a laxative effect. At the same time, they do not have the taste that Medovik or Prague should have.
These are completely different desserts with a different taste and texture. I believe that if you really want something sweet, and you are on a diet, it is better to allow yourself a small piece of real cake than to look for incomprehensible substitutes. You will still get a serving of calories from a low-calorie cake, but there will be no real pleasure.
